Bob Dylan will finally accept his Nobel Prize for Literature in Stockholm, the awarding academy announced Wednesday. The legendary musician and songwriter is expected to travel to Sweden this weekend to pick up the prize in private, but he will not deliver the required in-person lecture, instead reportedly opting to mail in a taped version. Dylan, 75, was awarded the honor last year but did not attend the annual ceremony to pick his medal or the $900,000 prize. Sara Danius, permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, wrote in a blog post, “The Academy will then hand over Dylan’s Nobel diploma and the Nobel medal, and congratulate him on the Nobel Prize in Literature. The setting will be small and intimate, and no media will be present; only Bob Dylan and members of the Academy will attend, all according to Dylan’s wishes.”
