Bob Simon’s Driver on ‘Suicide Mission’

TROUBLED PAST

Had jumped off building.

The driver behind Bob Simon’s fatal car crash reportedly had attempted suicide, according to a member of his family. In 2004, Abdul Reshad Fedahi “was on a suicide mission,” his cousin, Rauf Sharif, told the New York Daily News. “He dropped himself from a building. I don’t know how many floors in Brooklyn. He went through hard days in his life.” Fedahi, who survived the crash with injuries, also had a less than perfect driving record. His license has been suspended nine times since November of 2011 due to his failure to respond to summons or appear in court. Fedahi had apparently driven Simon multiple times before the crash. “He actually had tears on his eyes when he talk[ed] about his passenger,” said Sharif.
