News of the comments, which appear to reveal a crack in the GOP’s thus-far unified front, came from an anonymous member of the House, while other Republicans said they got the sense that Boehner would do anything to avoid a default. Moderate Republicans who have been criticizing their party’s stance on the shutdown said they would vote with Democrats to pass a so-called clean resolution to fund the government.
