House Speaker John Boehner emerged from fiscal cliff talks with President Obama Friday echoing the “we’re nowhere” theme of this week with the words, “no progress.” While the Obama administration insists that income tax rates be increased for wealthiest Americans, Capitol Hill’s top Republican reiterated his demand that Obama come up with a new plan for evaluation. On Monday, the president rejected the Republicans offer of $800 billion in new tax revenue, calling the plan “nothing new.” Now, the GOP says it’s Obama’s turn. “It’s time for the president, if he’s serious, to come back to us with a counter-offer,” said Boehner.
