Boeing Dreamliner Makes First Flight

After years of delays, the Boeing Dreamliner completed its first commercial trip, landing in Hong Kong after taking off in Tokyo. The jet was originally designed in 2001 as the "Sonic Cruiser," a super-fast passenger jet that rising fuel prices rendered obsolete. It was changed to the Dreamliner, whose carbon-composite body is supposed to make flying 20 percent more fuel efficient. Glitches and parts delays have left Boeing with a backlog of 821 orders for the plane.
