At least 10 people were killed Friday when Boko Haram extremists attacked a village in northeast Nigeria and took over a highway. The victims were shot as they fled from the village, Ngamdu, according to a local police official. The Islamic extremists also took over the only safe highway to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. Military units have moved in to fend off the attackers.
