The 9-millimeter pistol used by Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev has been traced to a gang that peddled crack cocaine in Portland, Maine. Authorities also believe Tsarnaev's ties to the drug trade funded a six-month visit to Chechnya and Dagestan in 2012 and helped pay for parts of the bomb that killed three at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013. Tsarnaev, who was killed in a shootout with police, has also been linked to a drug-related 2011 triple homicide in Waltham, Massachusetts. His younger brother, Dzhokhar, will be tried on 30 federal charges this fall related to the Boston bombing in the fall.
