Boston will not host the 2024 Olympic Games after the U.S. Olympic Committee pulled the games on Monday following a dispute over who would be responsible for the costs. Mayor Martin Walsh said he was worried about putting taxpayers on the hook for the expensive task of playing host city. “I cannot commit to putting the taxpayers at risk,’’ Walsh said at a press conference. “If committing to sign a guarantee today is what’s required to move forward, then Boston is no longer pursuing the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.” The city was chosen over D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles in January.
