The Army private suspected of leaking a trove of classified documents to WikiLeaks will be transferred from the Marine brig in Quantico, Va., to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The move follows controversy over the conditions of Manning’s imprisonment at Quantico. His advocates, including Amnesty International, have alleged that his human rights may have been violated: Manning is being held in maximum-security solitary confinement and has allegedly been forced to sleep naked. The State Department’s chief spokesman was forced to resign after criticizing his condition.
