Shocker! Brazil won the first match of the World Cup with a score of 3-1 against Croatia. The home team’s Marcelo Vieira was the first to score a goal, though it was into Brazil’s own net, giving Croatia an early 1-0 lead. Vieira now holds the dubious distinction of scoring Brazil’s first ever own goal in World Cup history. Brazil is seeking its sixth World Cup title.
