One month ago, 8-year-old Sophia Grace Brownlee was just a little girl singing along to a song by rap princess, Nicki Minaj—but fast forward a mere four weeks and not only is the second grader a worldwide phenomenon, but she is also now Minaj’s friend. After Brownlee’s cover of Minaj’s “Super Bass” racked up more than 13 million hits on YouTube, TV host Ellen DeGeneres invited both Sophia Grace and her 5-year-old co-star and cousin Rosie Grace McClellan to The Ellen Show where Minaj surprised the two tiny princesses and accompanied Brownlee live. The rapper also sent the little girls on a shopping spree to Toys 'R' Us, dispensed some “stay in school” advice—and snapped this backstage photo, which Brownlee posted on Twitter.
Actor, comedian, Booky Wook author and Katy Perry’s husband, Russell Brand finally found a frontier he couldn’t conquer this week when his stand-up tour took him to the Canadian border. According to Brand’s tweet, he was being prevented from entering the country by customs officials. Though it turned out Brand was overreacting a bit (he was only delayed because of a lack of customs facilities and had to be diverted to another airport), Brand ended up missing his performance at the Casino Rama in Orillia. Unlike his similar incident in Japan though, Brand eventually made it into Canada, rescheduled his show, and smiled big in this photo, with him sandwiched between two customs officials. “Canadians! I’m in your country! Let’s go!” Brand announced.
Miranda Kerr, is the lucky model to wear this year’s $2.5 million, diamond-encrusted Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra. She stopped by morning TV show Fox & Friends to show off the most buzzed-about undergarment and tweeted a photo, saying, “Just wrapped up at “fox & friends” for the #VSFantasyBra. @VictoriasSecret So excited!!!”
The Hamptons International Film Festival’s patron saint, Alec Baldwin made an appearance at the opening of Paton Miller’s HIFF-supporting exhibition at Grenning Gallery. Besides donating $250,000 to the film festival, Baldwin also put his charm to work to attract new faces to the festival. He tweeted a photo of himself and one such young fan at the gallery, saying, “Trying to recruit young fans for the Hamptons Film Festival.”
This week, Sharon Osbourne jetted off to Chicago where she appeared with daughter Kelly on Rosie O’Donnell’s new OWN talk show, The Rosie Show. The America’s Got Talent judge talked about being married to Ozzy Osbourne and the prince of darkness’s favorite new activity: texting. The launch party for the new first-person shooter videogame Rage brought in many big names, like Snoop Dogg and former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, who posed together for a photo, which Snoop uploaded to his WhoSay page. “Snooperman n wonderwoman! In his excitement, however, Snoop mistakenly referred to the wrong Linda in his tweet—Linda Blair portrayed the possessed little girl in The Exorcist.
This week, Britney Spears’s Femme Fatale tour hit Stockholm, where the princess of pop stopped for a meet-and-greet with her Swedish fans. In her pre-show pink bathrobe, Spears is seemingly still into the gun-toting look she sported in her new “Criminal” music video and struck the quintessential Charlie’s Angels pose. “Britney’s Angels live from Sweden :)” she tweeted.
Dancing With the Stars contestant Chaz Bono has been hitting the dance floor hard these past few weeks. Audience support for the controversial, transgender contestant has been so strong that, despite Bono consistently earning low scores from the judges, he has been kept afloat by enthusiastic voters. The contestants took a break from practice long enough for a snapshot in which a smiling Bono flashed two thumbs up. “Sunday show-n-tell rehearsal! #DWTS” he tweeted.
Former model, maternal health advocate and short-filmmaker Christy Turlington has dedicated her most recent efforts to training for the New York City marathon on Nov. 6 to raise money for Every Mother Counts. The organization, which she founded after suffering complications while giving birth to her first child, aims to reduce the percentage of women around the world who die or are seriously harmed in childbirth. “Almost all of these deaths can be prevented,” she said at the Social Good Summit in September. This week, Turlington tweeted a photo of herself and producer Nicolas Newbold, dripping wet from running in the rain. “Rain or shine, we get the miles in! #nycmarathon @nicolasnewbold @everymomcounts,” Turlington tweeted.
Seemingly unfazed by recent rumors of his split from wife Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher spent his Sunday evening watching the Chicago Bears game. Kutcher pumped himself up before the game started by donning a jersey, cap, and digging into a bag of potato chips.
