In the 11 days before her sudden death, Brittany Murphy got a prescription for 120 pills of Vicodin. When she was discovered unconscious in her shower, there were only 11 pills left, TMZ reports, though the actress should only have been taking a maximum of four a day. The Los Angeles Country Coroner’s office hasn’t been able to identify the prescribing doctor, whose last name is listed as Cohen. They’ve tapped Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, for assistance, but found him to be no help. Murphy’s death was ruled accidental, the result of a combination of pneumonia and prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
