Broward County Election Chief Brenda Snipes Resigns After Chaotic Recount

Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes has quit her post following a chaotic Midterm elections recount in South Florida. Snipes and her department have come under intense criticism from Republicans for their handling of the recounts from the contentious Florida senate and governor’s races. President Trump and Senator Marco Rubio are among those who accused the Broward election office of incompetence. Trump tweeted on November 9: “Rick Scott was up by 50,000+ votes on Election Day, now they ‘found’ many votes and he is only up 15,000 votes. ‘The Broward Effect.’ How come they never find Republican votes?” Burnadette Norris-Weeks, an attorney for the Supervisor of Elections Office, told the Sun Sentinel that Snipes had submitted her resignation letter to spend more time with her family.
