The book isn't closed on all the Bush administration's scandals: An extensive report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) set for release on Monday reveals that top aides to President George W. Bush appeared unconcerned in 2002 when the White House risked losing hundreds of thousands of emails that federal law required them to maintain. This follows a settlement between the Obama administration, CREW, and the National Security Archive, which was reached last December after the latter two groups sued over millions of lost emails sent between 2003 and 2005. The result: 94 days worth of email and the release of documents describing how the Bush administration responded to the missing emails. “The net effect of this is we've probably lost some truly valuable records that would have provided insight,” said CREW Chief Counsel Anne Weismann.
