Caitlyn Jenner Convinces Kim Kardashian to Consider Trump
KEEPIN’ UP
Hillary Clinton may have lost the crucial Kardashian vote.
On Friday, The Huffington Post reported that Kim Kardashian West had told writer Eve Barlow that, after talking to sports and transgender icon Caitlyn Jenner, she is now considering voting for Donald Trump. (Jenner is a Republican, and a former spouse of Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner.)
“At first I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m so Hillary’, but I had a long political call with Caitlyn last night about why she’s voting Trump. I’m on the fence,” Kardashian said in a recent interview for a Wonderland magazine cover story.
The Clinton campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Kardashian’s betrayal. Kardashian’s publicist didn’t, either.
Late last year, Kardashian endorsed Clinton for president in the form of a much-publicized selfie: “I got my selfie!!! I really loved hearing her speak & hearing her goals for our country! #HillaryForPresident,” Kardashian tweeted in August 2015. Kardashian, who years ago self-identified as a “liberal Republican,” has in recent years tacked closer to the Democratic Party, siding with the Democrats in the last midterm elections and on gun control, and supporting President Obama.
Update (9/24/2016, 7:10 p.m. ET): Kardashian blogs a clarification that she is now again pledging to vote for Clinton: "I found that without a doubt, I stand with Hillary. I'm with her. I believe Hillary will best represent our country and is the most qualified for the job." Kardashian added that she believes that both Trump and Clinton have "the intention of making the country a safer and stronger place for every American."
