After selling 400,000 copies in China, Liu Cixin's The Three-Body Problem is being translated into English. The 2008 bestseller and its two sequels are often credited with kickstarting a new wave of science-fiction in China, reinvigorating the genre after the government discouraged its publication in the 1980s. Set during the Maoist cultural revolution, The Three-Body Problem is about a dying alien race that begins to communicate with earth. Ken Liu, a Hugo Award winner himself, will do the translation.
