During an Iowa campaign stop Wednesday, Ben Carson assailed his “business manager” Armstrong Williams as dishonest. “Armstrong is not necessarily the epitome of truth,” Carson said. “He doesn’t speak all things that are correct. He often speaks without thinking. He has no official capacity in the campaign whatsoever. His influence has been vastly overrated.”
This comes after The Daily Beast reported that former members of Carson’s campaign have attributed all of its internal problems to Williams, who maintains that he has no official role despite claims otherwise. Carson’s campaign has not responded to a question from The Daily Beast about whether the candidate will try to distance himself more from Williams.
