Casey Anthony's Car Smelled Like Death

The manager of a Florida impound lot where Casey Anthony’s car was towed testified Friday that he noticed “the very, very unique, distinctive smell” of a rotting human body coming from the vehicle. Simon Birch said he had worked for a garbage company and that he knew the difference between the smell of trash and the smell of a dead body. He said that when he examined Anthony’s car, there “was an odor consistent with what I smelled in the past of [human] decomposition.” Anthony is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter. When Cindy Anthony, Casey’s mother, called to report her granddaughter missing, she said that she smelled “a dead body” in Casey’s trunk. Anthony’s father has also reported finding maggots in the car.
