The funeral of former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro was underway on Sunday morning, nine days after he died at age 90. Castro’s ashes were being interred at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in Santiago. Tens of thousands of Cubans gathered on Saturday to remember Castro in a rally led by his brother Raul, the island nation’s current president. Sunday was the last day of national mourning in Cuba over the late leader’s death.
