On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control revised the number of scientists who were potentially exposed to anthrax in Atlanta from 75 to 86. 52 of those people are currently taking antibiotics as a precaution. The exposure was caused when a high-level biosecurity lab failed to inactivate live anthrax bacteria samples that were subsequently sent to three other labs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture will conduct an investigation into the safety lapse.
