Cecil the Lion’s Brother 'Alive'

Earlier reports indicated he was dead.

Reuters is reporting that the brother of Zimbabwe’s beloved Cecil the Lion, Jericho, was not actually shot dead on Saturday. It was reported by multiple outlets that the lion was killed after the Zimbabwean Conservation Task Force posted the news on its Facebook page, writing, “It is with huge disgust and sadness that we have just been informed that Jericho, Cecil’s brother has been killed at 4 p.m. today. We are absolutely heartbroken.” However, Brent Stapelkamp, field researcher for the Hwange Lion Research Project which is keeping track of the lion with a GPS tag, said to Reuters, "He looks alive and well to me as far as I can tell." Jericho, the next lion in the hierarchy, had been looking after Cecil’s cubs after Cecil was killed by a hunting party led by American dentist Walter Palmer.
