Chandra Levy's Murderer Gets 60 Years

After an emotionally heated trial, the 29-year-old man convicted of killing D.C. intern Chandra Levy nearly 10 years ago was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Friday. An illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Ingmar Guandique was convicted in November on two counts of first-degree felony murder, one for Levy's kidnapping and the other for attempted robbery. Before receiving his punishment, Guandique tearily said to Levy's family, "I am sorry for what happened to your daughter, but I had nothing to do with it. I am innocent." At times throughout the trial, Chandra’s mother, Susan Levy, aggressively addressed Guandique, swearing at him, pointing, and demanding, "How could you take my daughter's life? Did you really take her life? Look me in the eyes and tell me."
