Charlie Hebdo Pencils to Go Up at SOTU

Several lawmakers plan to raise yellow pencils during tonight's State of the Union address when PresidentObama mentions the deadly Charlie Hebdo attacks. "Rather than divide and intimidate us, these brazen and barbaric attacks have united the international community and prompted a global response in defense of the freedom of expression," said Eric Harris, a spokeswoman for Rep. Gwen Moore, who spearheaded the symbolic move. Harris told The Daily Beast that at least 10 lawmakers would be participating in the gesture, including a majority of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. As of Tuesday afternoon, no Republicans had indicated to Moore's office that they would be joining the initiative.
