Elizabeth also calls Hunter "pathetic." John Edwards first confessed his affair to her in 2006, shortly after he declared his intention to run for president and a year before the National Enquirer reported the affair. "He should not have run," Elizabeth writes, saying she feared for her family’s privacy. Her book, Resilience, is due out on May 12.
