The Christmas bomber aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 made an "alarming" phone call to his father prior to boarding the flight, reports ABC News. Nigerian officials say that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab called his father from Yemen, warning that the phone call would be his last. The contact prompted Adbulmutallab's father, a prominent Nigerian banker, to get in touch with authorities on November 19, out of concern that his son might be planning a suicide mission in Yemen. The CIA in Nigeria issued a "thin report" to U.S. embassies, followed by two more reports. One was sent to the CIA headquarters in Virginia, and the other was not circulated until after the attack.
