Let’s just hope that, before they go, they have a clear timeline for when they’re going to leave: The United States is considering housing Haitian refugees at “Camp Justice,” the guest quarters at Guantanamo Bay. At 180 miles away, Gitmo is the closest U.S. base to Port-au-Prince. "It's a resource that's available if we need to take advantage of it for various reasons," Gen. Douglas Fraser, head of the U.S. Southern Command. Guantanamo Bay was actually built up to house Haitian refugees from the Aristide crisis in the early 1990s.
