An unidentified gunman who fired several shots in the Perry–Castañeda Library on the University of Texas campus is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and police are looking for a second suspect, officials say. “The shooter is dead on the sixth floor of Perry–Castañeda Library,” said Don Hale, a UT spokesman. “No identification. Apparently took his own life.” Hale added, “We don’t have any report of anybody getting shot at this point.” University officials have alerted everyone by text message, loudspeakers, and on the university website to stay indoors and away from the campus while police diffuse the situation and find the second suspect. According to graduate student Kevin Olsen, he and other students heard about eight to ten shots in short bursts around 8:15 a.m. A UT facilities worker also said he heard at least 10 gunshots but did not see anyone get hit.
