Argues censure is too harsh.

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is asking his colleagues to consider a less serious punishment than censure for his numerous ethical violations. According to The New York Times, Rangel is hoping that they simply reprimand him instead. Rangel has printed a 10-point chart arguing why censure is too harsh. Bullet number five points out that his violations “did not involve sexual misconduct.” Rangel was found guilty of failure to pay taxes, failure to report personal income, and improper solicitation of charitable donations.
