Buh bye, DecorMyEyes. Following a popular New York Times story about a shady, online eyeglasses vendor, Google has announced that it’s changed the way it ranks search results, so scam artists will no longer be able to manipulate the system and appear so highly. As last weekend’s article revealed, Vitaly Borker’s site, DecorMyEyes.com, used negative reviews from forums to boost its ranking on Google’s search engine—since the search engine ranks businesses that have been referred to many times higher, whether those references were good or bad. Google did not reveal how they changed their algorithm, but Borker’s business had already dropped far down on the search-engine results.
