Evidence is mounting that Jared Lee Loughner, 22, the man accused of opening fire in a Tucson parking lot, killing six, and seriously wounding Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was sane and methodical in his preparations. An analysis of his computer found that he researched other political assassins, that he researched both lethal injection and solitary confinement, and that he signed off just before the shooting by saying "Goodbye Friends" on his MySpace page. "The impression investigators have is that he was trying to educate himself on assassinations and also research the consequences, process and effects of lethal injections," said a source close to the investigation. Loughner rented a room at a Motel 6 on the western edge of Tucson on the night before the shooting, which he used as a staging ground for his preparations. At his arraignment Monday, Loughner's attorney entered a not guilty plea for him.
