Valerie Plame’s already had a life stranger than fiction, so it only makes sense that the next act for the former CIA operative is to write international suspense novels. Penguin Group USA and Plame have signed a deal for her to write a series of suspense novels, drawing on her experience as a CIA agent. Plame wrote a memoir in 2006, Fair Game, which was turned into a film of the same name. Plame said she was inspired to write fiction after being frustrated with the “cardboard characters” in spy novels. After Plame was famously outed as a CIA agent by Robert Novak, she is not taking any chances angering the CIA with these novels: They will be vetted by the agency before being published.
