South Asia’s seismic spring isn’t over yet. A 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Myanmar on Thursday, with tremors felt in Thailand and Vietnam. The quake hit a sparsely populated rural region near the Thai border. Thai officials say there’s only one death in the country so far, a woman who was killed when one wall of her house collapsed. There aren’t any reports of deaths or injuries in Myanmar so far. The country, which is ruled by a repressive military junta, has a bad record of responding to natural disasters because the government is often unwilling to allow foreign aid and workers to enter the country. Aftershocks are expected.
