Radiation levels hit a record Sunday at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, with reports that leaked water was 100,000 times more radioactive than usual. Questions were also raised about the safety of the workers at Fukushima Daiichi after reports that the airborne radiation was so high that a worker could reach his yearly level of intake after just 15 minutes. Workers have been forced to work in dark, steamy conditions, wearing respirators and bulky suits and must shift out every 30 minutes to prevent overexposure. As for the cause of the leaking water, a Tepco spokesman said Sunday that he did not know the source of the leaked water. The Japanese chief cabinet secretary said in a televised interview that reactor itself had not been breached.
