Finally, some emotion from the White House: After a day of appalling violence in Syria— at least 73 protesters are reported dead after security forces opened fire on them—President Obama lashed out at the country’s president, calling the bloody crackdown an “outrageous use of violence” that “must come to an end now.” Obama also accused the president, Bashar al-Assad, of “seeking Iranian assistance in repressing Syria’s citizens through the same brutal tactics” of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s regime.
