St. Louis' main airport, Lambert-St. Louis International, is ready to reopen—albeit at a reduced capacity—after a tornado swept in and tore away a large section of its roof. Some arrivals have already come into the hub, while departures are expected to begin Sunday morning. An official said she expected the airport to operate at 70 percent capacity tomorrow. Elsewhere in St. Louis, homes were damaged, trees uprooted, and power lines knocked down. Several other tornadoes were reported in the St. Louis area, but so far there appear to be only minor injuries. Gov. Jay Nixon announced a state of emergency to help with the cleanup. "The state of Missouri is ready to assist at every stage of this emergency to keep Missouri families safe and help communities recover," Nixon said.
