The 2012 election will send Rep. Ron Paul to the White House or else out to pasture—the Texas Republican says he won’t seek reelection to his House seat. Paul, a libertarian darling who’s seen as a long shot for the GOP presidential nod but whose views have been a major influence on the Tea Party movement, is 75 and has served nearly a quarter century in the House. “I felt it was better that I concentrate on one election,” Paul told a local newspaper in Texas. “It’s about that time when I should change tactics.” Paul has run for president twice before, in 1988 and 2008, and his son Rand Paul is a freshman senator from Kentucky.
