In a move that could have repercussions for the nation's labor movement, the U.S. Postal Service is considering getting legislative approval to break labor agreements with its workers. A document obtained by the Washington Post details a plan to cut 120,000 jobs by 2015 by voiding layoff protections in postal workers' collective bargaining agreements. The document also proposes removing 480,000 pensioners and 600,000 employees from the Federal Employees health program and putting them in a “Postal Service administered” program. Unions vehemently oppose the plan.
