Fitch Gives U.S. AAA Rating

SECOND OPINION

Says country’s fiscal outlook is “stable.”

The international ratings agency Fitch affirmed the U.S.’s top-notch credit rating Tuesday, giving the country a breather after being downgraded by Standard & Poor’s just over a week ago. Fitch said the outlook for the U.S.’s credit rating is stable—meaning it won’t be getting a downgrade any time soon. It cited America's "pivotal role in the global financial system and the flexible, diversified and wealthy economy that provides its revenue base" as the reasons for its decision.
