Libya will soon receive more than $1.5 billion in unfrozen Gaddafi assets. The cash windfall will be flown in from the U.K. after a decision made by the U.N. in New York. Once it’s in Libya, the money will be swiftly deposited into ATMs and banks, and will also allow Libyans who draw a government salary to be paid for the first time in weeks. The original order, which is about $1.8 billion in Libyan dinars, had been ordered from a British printing company by Gaddafi but blocked by Britain in March as the rebels' uprising began. Meanwhile, rebels claim that Gaddafi’s son Saadi is negotiating his own surrender.
