Rupert Murdoch, the CEO of News Corp., got a $12.5 million cash bonus for the fiscal year that ended in June. His son, James Murdoch, was entitled to a $6 million bonus, but unlike his father, he turned his down. In a statement, the younger Murdoch said, “While the financial and operating performance metrics on which the bonus decision was based are not associated with this matter, I feel that declining the bonus is the right thing to do.”
