It looks as though things won’t be that easy for President Obama next year. A group of liberal leaders, including former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, has announced plans to recruit competitors to challenge Obama in the Democratic primaries next year. The group sent letters to elected officials, civic leaders, academics, and other progressives who specialize in labor, poverty, military, and foreign policy. In a news release, Nader said, “Without debates by challengers inside the Democratic Party’s presidential primaries, the liberal/majoritarian agenda will be muted and ignored.”
