NBC’s fictional Dunder Mifflin took on a new chief in Thursday night’s premiere episode of The Office as James Spader came in as the top boss, Robert California. While the show is unlikely to top the mega-ratings for Two and a Half Men, which also replaced its star this season, fans of The Office took to Twitter, making #theoffice a trending topic—not too shabby an achievement during a Republican debate. While some of them were unsure that Spader would fit into the Dunder Mifflin family, others described his performance as “epic” and “fantastic” or even just “an acquired taste.”
