Speculation continues on how exactly Kim Jong-un will take over leadership of North Korea, but it seem likely that his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, vice chairman of the National Defense Commission, along with his wife Kim Kyong Hui, Jong Il’s younger sister, will play a prominent role. Usually wearing business suits, Jang has been seen lately on state TV wearing military uniforms. This and other signals, such as state media hailing Kim Jong-un as the “supreme leader” of the military, lead experts to believe North Korea will maintain its military-first policy, which emphasizes military above all other government functions.
