At a fundraiser in New York City on Thursday night, President Obama had to think quick on his feet. A woman called out, “Use your leadership! No war on Iran!” during his speech to about 900 young professionals who paid $1,000 apiece to join the president at ABC Carpet & Home for a reception. Obama replied, “No one’s announced a war, young lady.” The crowd applauded the retort, and Obama added that the woman was “jumping the gun a little bit.” The president will be meeting next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, and Iran is likely to be one of the most talked-about issues. The fundraiser, his 100th of the reelection campaign, was one of a slew of events held Thursday night in the heart of Manhattan. At the swankiest of affairs, guests paid $35,800 a plate at ABC Kitchen—a nearby popular dining spot.
