Fifty-four delegates may be enough for Mitt Romney to finally put Rick Santorum behind him. CNN has called Illinois for Mitt Romney, with a little more than 20 percent of precincts reporting, Romney had a commanding 54 percent to 28 percent lead over Rick Santorum. Romney is coming off of third-place finishes in both Alabama and Mississippi last week, though he did crush Santorum in Puerto Rico on Saturday. Since Illinois is a large state with a moderate GOP electorate, this victory could be the final push to a large delegate lead—and the nomination.
