An American man and woman were reportedly abducted on Friday along with their Egyptian tour guide in the mountains of Sabr el-Hitan, in the Sinai Peninsula. According to local officials, the kidnapper is a local Bedouin, who may have performed the kidnapping in a desperate bid to have his uncle released from custody in Alexandria. U.S. embassy spokesman David Lynnfield told the Associated Press that the embassy is investigating the disappearance. In a similar incident this May, two Americans were abducted in the Sinai Peninsula by Bedouin gunmen. The pair was eventually released.
