More than 170 countries gathered in New York to decide on details of a United Nations arms-trade treaty have extended their talks. Delegations have been negotiating for the past month, but failed to agree on regulations for the $60 billion industry. Conflicts like Syria were cited as reasons why a treaty is vital by activists, who also blamed the U.S. and Russia for delaying the treaty. It’s possible the deal will go to the U.N. General Assembly and be decided on by the end of the year.
