Is this the beginning of the end for Rafa? After pulling out of the Olympics due to an ongoing knee injury, Rafael Nadal announced on Wednesday that he is “not ready” to play in the U.S. Open in New York this year. “Thanks to my fans for their support and specially, the new yorkers,” the Spaniard tweeted this morning in conjunction with a statement from tournament director David Brewer, confirming that Nadal had withdrawn from the competition. Nadal hasn’t played a match since losing in the second round of Wimbledon to then-100th-ranked Lukas Rosol.
