After Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the Northeast, the region is beginning a long and expensive road to recovery. As mass transit began some operations again, trading on the Stock Exchange resumed and two major airports reopened, New York Mayor Bloomberg said "we are on our way back to normal." Con Edison reported Wednesday night it's restored power to about 30,000 New Yorkers, but for many, the lights remained off. There are still about 227,000 customers without power in Manhattan, 113,000 in Queens, 100,000 in Staten Island, 74,000 in Brooklyn, and 38,000 in the Bronx. On the bright side, New York subways will resume partial service Thursday, and schools will resume next week. Even Halloween will be celebrated 'normally' in New Jersey, where Governor Chris Christie postponed festivities until Monday.
