A day before the monthly report on payroll jobs and unemployment is released, we received two data points suggesting the labor market is improving. ADP, the payroll-processing firm that issues its own monthly jobs study, said the private sector created 158,000 jobs in October. And the Bureau of Labor Statistics said first-time unemployment claims fell last week to 363,000.
